The Human Impact Project
Why I Came Here
Behind every court file, investigation, allegation, decision, and institutional process is a person.
Different experiences can be acknowledged without diminishing one another.
People arrive at Presumption of Innocence Canada for many different reasons. Some have experienced crime, violence, abuse, or exploitation. Some have been falsely accused or wrongfully convicted. Others have been affected by child welfare proceedings, family court, incarceration, or the experience of supporting someone they love.
These experiences are not the same, and this space is not intended to compare them. This page exists to recognize the human impact of systems that are often difficult, intimidating, and deeply personal.
You may share why you came to this website, how you or your family have been affected, and what you wish others understood. You may use your full name, your first name, initials, or remain anonymous. Every submission is reviewed by a person before publication.
By sharing your experience, you may help another person understand that they are not alone.
